In the Rotterdam Metro (subway) travellers all have their own thoughts and most of them are completely in their own world. Even when travelling together they form a closed group from the rest of the train.

With these portraits I like to show the contrast between the crowdy train and the individuality of their worlds.

First I observe and take a picture. After I begin the conversion and ask for their permission in return for a print.

It really surprised me how many photographed people actually liked to see themselves in such a way.
